Mobile detailing — how it works
What is mobile car detailing?
Mobile car detailing is a full professional detail performed at your home, office, or wherever you park — instead of at a shop. We bring the equipment, products, and backup water and power to you and restore your vehicle inside and out on-site. It saves you the drive, the drop-off, and the waiting room while delivering shop-quality results in your own driveway.
Read the full guide: Mobile Detailing ExplainedHow does a mobile detailing appointment actually work, start to finish?
You book online or by phone, and we arrive at your scheduled time with everything needed. We walk the vehicle with you, confirm the services, then complete the interior and exterior work on-site — typically a few hours depending on the package. When we're done we review the results with you and collect payment. You just hand us the keys and go about your day.
What's the difference between mobile detailing and a drive-through car wash?
A drive-through wash is a quick, automated exterior rinse — soap, brushes, and a blow-dry in a few minutes. Mobile detailing is a hands-on, multi-hour service that deep-cleans and protects both the interior and exterior by hand. We address swirls, stains, contamination, and protection an automated tunnel simply can't touch, and we do it at your location.
Read the full guide: Detailing vs Car Wash: What's the DifferenceIs mobile detailing as good as taking my car to a detail shop?
Yes. Our mobile setup carries the same professional tools, products, and manufacturer certifications we'd use in a shop — we just bring them to you. The quality of a detail comes from the technician and the process, not the building. The only things we need on-site are water and an outlet, and we carry backups for both.
Read the full guide: Mobile Detailing vs Shop DetailingDo I need to be home while my car is detailed?
No. Many customers leave the keys and head to work or run errands while we detail. We just need access to the vehicle and, ideally, to water and power. We'll text or call when the detail is finished so you can look over the results, and payment is handled afterward.
Can you detail my car at my office, job site, or workplace?
Absolutely. Detailing your car while you work is one of the most popular ways to use a mobile service. As long as we can park beside your vehicle and reach water and an outlet — and we carry backups for both — we can detail in most office, job-site, or workplace lots. Check with your property manager first if the lot is restricted.
Can you detail my car at an apartment complex or in a shared parking lot?
Usually, yes. We regularly detail at apartments and shared lots. We just need a parking space we can work around and access to water and power, or we use our onboard supply. Some complexes have rules about washing vehicles on-site, so it's worth a quick check with your property manager before you book.
How much space do you need to detail my vehicle on-site?
Not much — roughly one to two parking spaces. We need room to open all the doors, walk around the vehicle, and set up our equipment beside it. A standard driveway, garage, or parking spot with a little clearance on each side is plenty.
Water, power & weather
Do I need to provide water and electricity for a mobile detail?
Ideally yes — access to an outdoor spigot and a standard electrical outlet lets us work fastest. That said, we come prepared: we carry hoses, long extension cords, and backup water and power, so we can still complete most details if one or both aren't available. Just let us know when you book so we arrive ready.
Read the full guide: Does Mobile Detailing Need Water and PowerDo you offer waterless or rinseless detailing if I have no spigot?
Yes. When there's no usable water source, we use professional rinseless and waterless methods that safely clean the vehicle with minimal water. It's the same approach we use at locations with restrictions or in cold weather. Results are excellent for most details; very heavy mud or dirt is better with a traditional rinse, so tell us your situation when booking.
Can you still detail my car if I don't have outdoor electricity?
That's fine. We carry battery-powered equipment and our own power sources, so we can detail without an outlet. An outlet does speed up extraction and vacuuming, so we'll bring backups either way. Just mention it when you schedule so we arrive set up for it.
Can you detail my car inside my garage?
Yes, and garages are great for mobile detailing. They give us shade, shelter from the weather, and a controlled space — which is especially helpful in winter or rain. We just need enough room to open the doors and move around the vehicle, plus access to water and power if available.
Does mobile detailing work in winter or cold weather?
Yes. We detail year-round in Central Pennsylvania. In cold weather we adjust our process and often work inside a garage or use rinseless methods so water doesn't freeze. Some exterior services like ceramic coating need certain temperatures, so we schedule those accordingly, but interior details and most exterior work continue right through winter.
Can you detail my car if it's raining?
Light rain usually isn't a problem for interior work or if we can use your garage, but heavy rain makes exterior detailing and protection impossible to do well. If the forecast looks bad, we'll reach out to reschedule the exterior portion or move everything indoors. Your results always come first, so we won't rush a job the weather will ruin.
Is there an ideal temperature or season for mobile detailing?
Spring through fall offers the easiest conditions, but we detail in every season. Mild, dry days above freezing are ideal for exterior work and coatings, while interiors can be done anytime, including winter, in a garage. The best time to detail is really whenever your car needs it — we adapt our process to the conditions.
Time & scheduling
How long does a mobile detail take?
Most details take anywhere from about two to six hours depending on the package and the vehicle's condition. An express or single-service detail is on the shorter end; a full interior-and-exterior detail or paint correction takes longer. We'll give you a time estimate when you book so you can plan your day around it.
How far ahead should I book a mobile detailing appointment?
A few days to a week ahead is a good rule of thumb, and more for weekends or the busy spring and fall periods. Booking early gives you the best choice of times. That said, we keep some flexibility for last-minute requests, so it's always worth calling to see what's open.
Do you offer same-day or next-day detailing?
Next-day is often possible, but we generally don't do same-day appointments — we ask for at least 24 hours' notice so we can schedule properly and arrive fully prepared. Availability fills up faster on weekends and during the busy spring and fall periods, so the sooner you reach out the better. Call (814) 424-5367 or book online to grab the next open slot.
Can I leave and run errands while you detail my car?
Definitely. Once we have access to the vehicle, you're free to leave and go about your day — work, errands, or relaxing at home. We'll contact you when the detail is finished so you can review the results. It's one of the biggest conveniences of mobile detailing.
What times of day do you do mobile details?
We schedule details throughout the day, typically starting in the morning and running into the early evening, seven days a week. Earlier slots are popular in summer to beat the heat. Tell us what works for you when you book and we'll find a time that fits your schedule.
Do you detail on weekends?
Yes. We detail seven days a week, including weekends, which are some of our most requested times. Because weekend slots fill quickly, we recommend booking a few days ahead to lock in the time you want.
Pricing & value
Why does mobile detailing cost more than a $20 car wash?
A $20 wash is a quick automated rinse; a detail is hours of skilled hand work using professional products. We deep-clean and protect the interior and exterior, correct paint, and address contamination a tunnel wash never touches — at your location. You're paying for craftsmanship, premium materials, and results that last weeks or months, not minutes.
Read the full guide: How Much Does Mobile Car Detailing CostDoes coming to me cost more than if I drove to a shop?
Generally no. Our mobile pricing already includes coming to you within our service area, so you're not paying a premium for the convenience. When you factor in the time, fuel, and hassle of driving to a shop and waiting, having us come to your driveway usually comes out ahead.
What factors change the price of a mobile detail?
Price depends mainly on the services you choose, your vehicle's size, and its current condition. A larger vehicle, heavy pet hair, stains, or paint that needs correction all add time and materials. When you book we'll confirm the package and any add-ons so the price is clear before we start — no surprises.
Do larger vehicles, SUVs, or trucks cost more to detail?
Yes, usually. Larger vehicles like trucks, SUVs, and vans have more surface area, glass, and interior space, so they take more time and product to detail properly. The difference is modest, and we'll quote your exact vehicle when you book so you know the price up front.
Is there a travel or trip fee, and how far will you travel?
Mobile service is built into our pricing throughout our core State College and Centre County area — towns like Bellefonte, Boalsburg, Port Matilda, Pleasant Gap, and more — so coming to you generally doesn't add a trip fee. For locations well outside Centre County, contact us first and we'll confirm availability and any travel charge.
Do you offer detailing packages, or can I pick individual services?
Both. We offer convenient interior, exterior, and full-detail packages, and you can also book individual services like a ceramic coating, paint correction, or interior-only clean. If you're not sure what your car needs, tell us your goals and we'll recommend the right combination.
Do you offer a monthly maintenance detailing plan?
Yes. Our monthly maintenance plan keeps your vehicle consistently clean with a recurring interior-and-exterior detail, starting at $250 a month after an initial full detail. It's the easiest way to protect your investment and never think about scheduling again. We also offer a prepaid annual Priority plan with added perks like pickup and drop-off.
Read the full guide: How Often Should You Detail Your CarDo you sell detailing gift cards?
Yes, we sell detailing gift cards — a popular choice for birthdays, holidays, new-car gifts, and graduations. They can be put toward any of our services, from a single interior detail to a ceramic coating. Reach out or visit our site to purchase one.
What's included & specific services
What's included in a full interior detail?
A full interior detail is a complete deep clean of the cabin: compressed-air blowout and thorough vacuum, shampoo and steam of carpets and seats, cleaning of all plastics, leather, and door jambs, interior glass, and floor mats. Premium interiors add protective treatments for plastics and leather. The result is a fresh, sanitized cabin that looks and smells new.
What's included in a full exterior detail?
A full exterior detail includes a thorough hand wash, wheel and wheel-well cleaning, tire cleaning and dressing, and a protective wax. Premium exteriors add iron decontamination, a clay-bar treatment, and paint polishing to remove embedded grime and restore gloss. Everything is done by hand to protect your paint and bring back a deep shine.
What's the difference between a full detail and an express detail?
An express detail is a faster maintenance clean — the essentials inside and out to keep your car looking sharp between full services. A full detail is the deep, comprehensive process: shampoo, decontamination, protection, and detailed attention to every surface. If your car is overdue or has heavy buildup, go full; if it's regularly maintained, express keeps it fresh.
Do you clean engine bays?
Yes — engine bay cleaning is available as an add-on to any detail. We carefully clean and dress the engine compartment to remove grease, dust, and grime, leaving it looking sharp and making future leaks easier to spot. Just request it when you book so we plan the time for it.
Do you offer headlight restoration?
Yes. We restore cloudy, yellowed, or hazy headlights to clear again, which improves both your car's appearance and your nighttime visibility. The process sands away the oxidized layer and refinishes the lens with a protective sealant. It's a quick, affordable upgrade that makes an older car look years newer.
Read the full guide: Headlight RestorationCan you remove pet hair from my car?
Yes. Embedded pet hair is one of the most common things we remove. We use specialized tools and techniques to lift hair out of carpet, upholstery, and tight seams that a normal vacuum leaves behind. Heavy pet hair adds time, so let us know about your furry passengers when you book.
Read the full guide: How to Remove Pet Hair from Your CarCan you get cigarette or smoke smell out of my car?
In most cases, yes. We deep-clean the surfaces holding the odor and treat the cabin to neutralize cigarette and smoke smell at the source rather than masking it. Long-term, heavy smoking can be tougher and may need multiple treatments, but the improvement is usually dramatic. Tell us about the smell when booking so we plan accordingly.
Read the full guide: How to Get Smoke Smell Out of a CarCan you remove coffee, food, vomit, or other stains from seats and carpet?
Yes. We remove most food, drink, and organic stains from seats and carpet using hot-water extraction, steam, and professional cleaners. The sooner a stain is treated the better the result, and most common spills come out completely. Set-in or dye-based stains may lighten rather than fully disappear, but we'll get them looking dramatically better.
Read the full guide: How to Remove Stains from Car Seats and CarpetCan you clean and condition leather seats?
Yes. We gently clean leather to lift dirt and body oils, then condition it to keep it soft and prevent cracking. Regular cleaning and conditioning is the best way to protect leather and extend its life. It's included in our premium interior services and available as an add-on to others.
Read the full guide: How to Clean and Condition Leather Car SeatsDo you shampoo carpets and floor mats?
Yes. Carpet and mat shampooing with hot-water extraction and steam is part of our premium interior and full details, and available as an add-on. It lifts dirt, salt, and stains deep in the fibers, then we extract the moisture so everything dries properly. It makes a huge difference, especially after a Pennsylvania winter.
Do you clean the trunk and cargo area?
Yes. The trunk or cargo area is included in our interior and full details — we vacuum it, wipe down the surfaces, and clean up spills or debris just like the rest of the cabin. If yours has heavy staining or odor, mention it so we can plan extra time.
Can you fix swirl marks and light scratches?
Yes. Swirl marks and light scratches sit in the clear coat and can usually be polished out through paint correction. We use a machine polish to remove the damaged layer and restore a smooth, glossy finish. Deep scratches that have gone through the clear coat can be improved but not fully erased.
Read the full guide: How to Remove Swirl Marks and Light ScratchesWhat is paint correction and do I need it?
Paint correction is a multi-step machine-polishing process that removes swirl marks, light scratches, oxidation, and haze to restore your paint's clarity and gloss. You need it if your finish looks dull or swirled, or before a ceramic coating so flaws aren't sealed in. A well-maintained newer car may only need a light polish.
Read the full guide: What Is Paint Correction and Do You Need ItDo you do clay bar treatments?
Yes. A clay-bar treatment removes bonded contaminants — industrial fallout, overspray, rail dust, and grime — that washing leaves behind, leaving the paint glass-smooth. It's a key step before waxing, polishing, or coating. It's included in our premium exterior and full details and available as a standalone service.
Read the full guide: What Is a Clay Bar TreatmentCan you remove hard-water spots from my paint and glass?
Usually, yes. Fresh water spots wipe away easily; mineral spots that have etched into paint or glass need a specialized treatment or light polishing to remove. We assess how deep they've set and treat them accordingly. Catching them early makes removal much easier, so don't let them sit.

How long does a professional detail last?
A thorough detail typically keeps your car looking great for several weeks to a few months, depending on how you drive, where you park, and the weather. Protective steps like wax or a ceramic coating extend that significantly. Regular maintenance details are the best way to keep the results going year-round.
How often should I have my car detailed?
For most drivers, a full detail every three to four months keeps a car in great shape, with lighter maintenance cleans in between. If you have kids, pets, a long commute, or park outside, more often helps. A monthly maintenance plan takes the guesswork out and keeps your car consistently clean.
Can I drive my car right after it's detailed?
Yes, for a standard detail you can drive immediately. The only exceptions are protective coatings — a fresh ceramic coating needs curing time before it gets wet, and we'll give you specific instructions if that applies. Otherwise, your car is ready to go the moment we finish.
How soon can I wash my car after a detail?
After a standard detail or wax, you can wash whenever you like, though there's no rush since it's already clean and protected. If we applied a ceramic coating, wait about a week before washing to let it fully cure. We'll always tell you the exact timeline for any protection we apply.
What's the best way to keep my car clean between professional details?
Wash regularly with a gentle two-bucket or touchless method, wipe up interior spills quickly, use floor mats, and don't let bird droppings or sap sit on the paint. Keeping a quick-detailer spray and a microfiber towel in the car helps too. Small, consistent habits make each professional detail easier and longer-lasting.
Read the full guide: How to Keep Your Car Clean Between Professional DetailsWill detailing remove every scratch from my car?
Not always. We can remove most light scratches and swirls that sit in the clear coat through paint correction. Deeper scratches that have cut through the clear coat into the base paint can be greatly improved but not completely erased without touch-up or refinishing. We'll tell you honestly what's correctable when we assess your paint.
Vehicle types
Do you detail trucks, lifted trucks, and large SUVs?
Yes. We detail trucks, lifted trucks, full-size SUVs, and vans regularly. Larger and taller vehicles take more time and product, and we bring the equipment to reach every panel safely. We'll quote your specific vehicle when you book so the size is accounted for.
Do you detail a leased car before I turn it in?
Yes, and it's a smart move. A pre-return detail helps you avoid wear-and-cleaning charges by getting the interior and exterior back to like-new condition. We can also address light scratches and stains that might otherwise count against you. Schedule it shortly before your turn-in date for the best result.
Read the full guide: Detailing Before a Lease ReturnDo you detail a car I'm about to sell?
Absolutely. A professional detail is one of the highest-return things you can do before selling — a clean, well-presented car photographs better, shows better, and commands a higher price. We make the vehicle look its best inside and out so buyers see a car that's been cared for. Many sellers more than recoup the cost.
Read the full guide: How Detailing Increases Your Car's Resale ValueDo you detail brand-new cars?
Yes. New cars benefit from detailing too — dealer lots and transport leave swirls, and a fresh finish is the ideal time to add protection like a ceramic coating before the road takes its toll. Starting protection early keeps your new car looking new far longer.
Do you detail classic or collector cars?
Yes, with extra care. We tailor our approach to delicate or original finishes, single-stage paints, and trim that needs gentle handling. Tell us about your vehicle and what you want preserved, and we'll use the safest products and methods. We treat collector cars with the caution they deserve.
Do you detail electric vehicles (EVs)?
Yes. We detail electric vehicles of all makes, including Teslas. The process is essentially the same as for any car — there's no engine bay to wash, and we take the usual care around sensors and charging ports. Ceramic coating and paint correction are popular on EVs to protect that factory finish.
Do you detail fleet or company vehicles?
Yes. We detail fleet and company vehicles for local businesses and can set up recurring service to keep your vehicles presentable and protected. Clean, branded vehicles make a strong impression on your customers. Contact us to discuss your fleet size and a schedule that works for your operation.

Are the products you use safe for my paint and interior?
Yes. We use professional-grade products chosen for each surface — paint, glass, leather, plastics, and fabric — and pH-balanced soaps that clean safely without stripping or damage. Our team is trained and certified, so the right product is used the right way every time. Your vehicle's finish and materials are always our priority.
Do you use eco-friendly or biodegradable products?
Yes. We use eco-friendly, biodegradable products wherever possible and water-conscious methods like rinseless washing that minimize runoff. It's better for your vehicle, for you, and for the environment. Protecting your car shouldn't mean harming the neighborhood we work in.
Do you bring all your own supplies and equipment?
Yes. We arrive fully self-contained with all the tools, products, towels, hoses, extension cords, and backup water and power needed to complete your detail. All we ask for is access to the vehicle and, ideally, an outdoor spigot and outlet. You don't need to provide anything.
How should I prepare my car before a mobile detail appointment?
Just remove personal belongings, valuables, and any car seats or accessories you want kept aside, and clear the area so we can park beside the vehicle. If possible, make sure we can reach a water spigot and an outlet. That's it — we handle the rest. A quick heads-up about heavy stains or pet hair helps us plan.
Read the full guide: How to Prepare Your Car for a Mobile DetailShould I remove my personal belongings before you arrive?
Yes, please clear out personal items, valuables, loose change, and anything in the trunk or cargo area before we arrive. It lets us clean every surface thoroughly and keeps your belongings safe. Anything we find we'll set aside, but a cleared-out car gets the best, fastest result.
What payment methods do you accept and when do I pay?
We accept all major credit and debit cards, as well as cash and check. For most details you pay once the work is finished and you've seen the results; when you book online we collect a small deposit to hold your appointment, with the balance due at completion. If you'd prefer a particular method, just let us know when you schedule.
